We managed to come to an agreement with the Indian government and to design a project of an ecological low-energy building. It is a precedent in which governmental officials have approved of a project which supports renewable sources in such forbidding conditions.
Odzer is is a small boy from Kargyak. We first met him when he was three. At that time we opened „The School Under the Open Sky“ in his village. A year later he was a victim of a fire accident and since then he is in our care.
It is commonplace for Czech children to receive a book at Christmas or on birthdays. In Kargyak, however, the children do not get presents on these occassions. Their first experience of this was with the arrival of new Czech friends.
In Zanskar, board are ridden too. In February of 2009 , after a 5-day-itineracy on the frozen river, sleeping in caves, cooking at 20 below zero, we delivered the first 6 snowboard sets on bob sleighs. We also organized a week`s Burton Snow Camp in the village of Padum.
Kargyak is the last village found in Zanskar, India. In 2006, together with the Women`s Organization in Kargyak, we built the first experimental accumulating greenhouse. It`s possible to grow vegetables there the whole year out including the coldest winter days where temperatures drop below 30 degrees C.
In the summer of 2008 a workshop for the manufacture of children`s toys and puppets was introduced in Kargyak. The original idea had come from the Bohemia Patchwork Club that organized the collection of material needed for repairig clothes, the making of toys and puppets for whih yak and sheep fleece is used.
